Youth Discipleship- It's Not About You

Youth discipleship is not about you. Too many people think that when they disciple their students it is about things going their way and students learning what they want. Their is a part of this as you are supposed to be modeling life for your student and you hope they pick up on that.  But in the end it is first about God. It is about seeking what God has for this student you are  discipling and Him revealing that for you. Then you find a way to be a part of that process. It is next about the student. It is about you helping them grow, meeting their needs, and if neccessary bringing them comfort. In this you do want to push them and you want to live an example that they can follow.  For instance, I do not play video games and I push my students to follow that example for many reasons. But if I make it all about me that lesson will not last. But instead I can make it about God and what He wants for their lives and my example will be one that makes an impact for all of their lives.
